Robert Bilott (Mark Ruffalo) a corporate attorney, is a thorough pragmatic defender of corporations. He's just made partner in his firm and is a powerful asset to the company because he's so good at his work.
During an important meeting, he's interrupted by Wilber Tennent (Bill Camp) and friend who come from a farm in Parkersburg, West Virginia. They come to see Bilott because Roberts's grandmother, Grammy, is a friend of Tennent.
They hand Bilott a box full of videotapes explaining that no local Parkersburg lawyer will help them with the problem of their cattle dying. They believe the animals are dying because the town's largest employer, Dupont, is polluting the water with chemicals from their facility.
Bilott tries to deter Tennent and not get involved, but Tennent's plea knags at him, so he visits his Grammy, verifies she knows Tennent and then drives to Tennent's farm. When Wilbur shows him his field full of buried cows, 190 of them, he realizes there is a problem.
Although Bilott's firm doesn't have Dupont as a corporate client, they are reluctant to take on a nonpaying client that is going to end up suing Dupont as it will hurt their reputation with their own corporate clients.
However, Tom Terp (Tim Robbins) Bilott's boss, supports Robert continuing his investigation even though his client cannot pay. There is a great scene when all the partners convene to hear and discuss Bilott's work.
Finally, Dupont sends over all the discovery information that Bilott had requested, and it is massive. Hundreds of boxes of memos, reports, and other documentation. Being a team of one, dutifully Robert sits down on the floor and begins categorizing each document by year and subject. This is a great scene because it cements Robert's commitment to do the right thing no matter what it takes.
His years of research comes up with proof that Dupont knew that they were poisoning people and animals through the creation, use of, and byproducts from POFA (C8) a chemical creation used in Teflon the non-stick coating that everyone was using. C8 is one of those chemicals that cannot be broken down by nature, let alone the human body and therefore it stays in the body and slowly causes various types of cancer.
The film takes us through this story as it develops over the years of difficult lonely hard work on Bilott's part. The filmmakers did a great job of showing the passage of time by giving the audience quick glimpse of his three boys growing up in front of him. He barely interacts with them because he's so clearly focused on this one case, this man is all in.
In the meantime, because of the court's slow processes, Dupont's putting roadblocks at every turn, and the slowness of a medical testing company that was reviewing, over sixty thousand blood tests, people were continuing to be poisoned and die from being exposed to C8.
We watch as the stress of doing the right thing for his client requires him to take reductions in pay because he's spending all his time on this case that has no paying client. We watch him feel the pain while watching his clients deteriorate because of the poison.
His wife Sarah (Anne Hathaway) tries to keep their family together, showing undying support, even as she sees the deterioration of her husband because of the deeply committed compassion to see this lawsuit through for the people who are being harmed.
One thing the film made sure of was the darkness of this subject. Every scene is dark in color or filled with gray skies.
Ruffalo was excellent as the committed attorney who gave up almost everything, including his life, to find and fight for the truth. Hathaway was superb as his supportive wife attempting to keep their family together while Robert fights for the truth. Robbins was influential as Bilott's boss and senior managing partner of their law firm, showing support for Robert on this long trail to truth. Camp was terrific, and the driven farmer and rancher who committed his life to making sure Dupont was charged for their crimes against his community. Victor Garber, as Phil Donnelly, a senior executive in Dupont, was supreme in his portrayal of being the mouthpiece of corporate malfeasance. Mare Winningham, as Darlene Kiger, a Parkersburg resident, was fantastic. It was lovely to see her on the screen again. Mario Correa and Matthew Michael Carnahan wrote a powerfully detailed script. Todd Haynes did a great job of creating the feel corporate malfeasance and the difficulty of making wealthy companies pay for their crimes against humanity.
Overall: This is an excellent story about the power of perseverance.

I haven't seen this movie yet (can't find it online and can't afford the apps the movie's on either) but I hope to see it soon. Think people here should go easy on Gia. Shes had to have her life on TV without her consent, both parents go to prison and pretty much mother her sisters at a young age. So I'm in a situation where I've been dating this women for about 7 months but this women obviously still has feeling/loves her ex.... I don't want to go into much detail but the ex and her lives with eachother because she doesnt just want to kick him out. Recently me and the her decided to take a break and just be friends. Honestly i feel that this "break" is an opportunity for her to go relit the flame with her ex. She complains that her ex is a horrible person and abusive and crazy yet she puts up with him telling me that she will soon kick him out but never did. Me and this women work at the same job and sense we're friends, i give her rides to work. She tells me everyday that we will be together after he finally moves out and she loves me and want a life with me. I dont believe any of that. My question is what can i do to make her understand she's making a huge mistake. Do i date other women? Stop giving her rides? Ignore her? What do i do?

I'm guessing all the high ratings and praise are from Jews. There was basically no plot whatsoever in this movie. The only high point in this disaster of a movie was Julia Fox. She was gorgeous and had an exceptional ass. That was it. Every stereotype about Jews was played out in this movie. My favorite part was Adam Sandler's character being Jewish and driving a Mercedes. Hilarious. If you don't get it, never mind. I almost left midway through the movie but I just took out my phone. The ending was somewhat a surprise but not really. Thank god they just ended the movie. Don't waste your time.

There have been few films that have left me pondering for days after and which have left my heart pounding incessantly hours after watching it. This has been one of those few films and it brought this reaction because of the incredible way in which it made the audience use all of their senses. From the beginning, you begin to wonder what is this movie about? All you see are two boys playing in the sand and pretending to be soldiers and you might think that it will be a movie about war. And then, Flor finds that rifle and you see the Nazi plane flying overhead and you realize that this is not just a war movie; it is a movie about the loss of innocence and the tragedy and horror that war brings to everyone – whether they chose to be a part of it or not.
And we see that Flor chose to become a part of the partisans in their fight against Hitler and once again, we begin to think: perhaps the film will be about Flor and the horror he goes through as he fights in the battlefield. However, once again, when Flor is left behind, we see that this film will not be in the battlefield. Instead, we get to see all of the pain that Flor must go through as he returns home, as he realizes what he has lost, and as he fights to stay alive. And up to a point, we see that Flor is still smiling. Though we see and feel his pain, we see him still laughing as him and his 'friend' go to still a cow. To me, this was one of the most important scenes, because throughout this whole instance, we only see Flor as he laughs and is joyful about they have just done. The camera work done as they show the point of view of the friend as he sees Flor in one continues long take was incredible to me. It showed how much innocence and happiness this small boy still felt even after having gone through the horror he had already seem. And yet, this is the last instance in which we see Flor smile and laugh.
After this, everything else makes you feel the war as if you were there. You can feel and touch and smell everything that is happening to the point that, for me, perhaps you cannot fathom how humans can ever commit such atrocities. The burning villages brought back to me images from one other film that has had effects like these on me – Schindler's List. For a few seconds after seeing that, all I could think of were the faces and corpses of the Jewish population who fell victim to the Nazis – images which were then imprinted onto my mind when Flor shoots Hitler's picture. From the whole movie, this last scene to me, was the most powerful. It made me even more aware of the humanity that this small, innocent boy had lost because of war. And what made this more powerful was how he aged so fast in this film, because it was true. By the end of this movie, he was no longer a boy. He was a grown man who had seen and felt far more than what any of us could imagine.

VHYes free software. | Nick Allen January 17, 2020 A sense of humor is a funny thing, especially for those of us who treasure the weird stuff. When something that's "out there" works, it’s true love. When it doesn’t, it’s like a bad date that had huge promise until it got underway. Jack Henry Robbins' “VHYes, ” with all of its nostalgia for late ‘80s TV and its endemic cheesiness, follows after the likes of Weird Al Yankovic's masterpiece " UHF, " Casper Kelly's endlessly loopable opening credits hellscape "Too Many Cooks, " and even the Kyle Mooney skits that are "cut for time" on "Saturday Night Live. " And while I adore all of those polarizing works, I didn't see what was funny about the shallow wackiness of "VHYes. " Advertisement Shot entirely on VHS and Betamax, the whole of "VHYes" is presented as the contents of a video tape, which was initially used to film the wedding for the parents of a young boy named Ralph ( Mason McNulty). When Ralph gets a camera for Christmas in 1987, and learns that he can record from the TV, it opens a world of possibilities. Namely, whatever he can find on the TV that is weird to him at the time. In one of its many abrupt, fuzzy cuts, an excited young Ralph jumps on his bed and says that he wants to create the ultimate video playlist, and soon into watching “VHYes” you accept that that’s all you’re going to get.  Instead of feeling like the chaos of a found tape, “VHYes” assembles itself like a series of sketches that it can bounce between, with random peeks back at the original wedding video contents; it struggles to have a heart by intermittently making it a story about Ralph realizing the truth behind his parents' marriage. Some sketch set-ups are directly, lazily recognizable to TV history: one cop parody steals the red and blue text from “Law and Order” because you wouldn’t get that it’s meant to parody if it didn’t have that logo. As if a tell on its weak absurdity, "VHYes" has yet another parody on TV painting instructor Bob Ross (even after Deadpool did it), with a segment starring Kerri Kenney, who turns the zen of such a host into the mindset of a creepy person who believes in aliens.  The very nostalgia within the concept becomes a pit, even when “VHYes” threatens to get truly weird. It’s not until the final minutes that the movie taps into the reality-bending that had been hinted at earlier, when Ralph started to see himself in the stuff he was watching, after one segment involved a VHS expert talking about the soul-suck that will be handheld recording in the future. Many parody sketches don’t have a discernible reference to build on (the recognition is what makes it initially funny), and instead rely on a shallow cheesiness. Even though "VHYes" features many dynamic funny people like Kenney, Thomas Lennon, Mark Prosch, Charlyne Yi, and Robbins' parents ( Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon), many of the characters in these sketches are so broad they aren't particularly clever. “VHYes” breaks the biggest rule of parody, over and over again: it simply tries way too hard with material that’s far too easy. That’s the case with an adult film bit that goes for low-hanging fruit of bad acting, as one guy is poorly reading cue cards in a late night movie about three alien women. Or there's an ongoing true-crime show about how a sorority thought one of their sisters was a witch because she did magic, which is a funny premise given a flat execution. The commercials that are thrown in the mix, like about a violent security company, or pads to sound-proof your bathroom, are like random splatters of paint whose only intention is to fulfill the project's obvious self-amusement.  While “VHYes” is very much inspired by the media experience of 1987, it’s actually about a very modern hell: Your friend sits you down to show you something really funny on YouTube, but oh, no—they’ve misjudged your sense of humor. Now you’re stuck, watching all of it, trying to find something funny to offer a polite relief. I started to feel trapped by my obligation to watch something that could very well have been my type, but now I’m just grateful the filmmakers of “VHYes” didn’t watch me watch it in laughless silence. Christopher Eccleston era the era that started it all for me and were I started watching Dr who which makes this era so Nostalgic for me with great episodes like Dalek and Empty Child and Doctor Dances.
However this is my least favourite era overall in NuWho just simply because it hasn't aged that well and he only did one season so I find it hard to get attached to this Dr personally I do respect Eccleston alot for bringing back the show and without this season we wouldn't have it but I enjoy 10th 11th 12th era's overall just my opinion.
However there are some great moments in this season and the first time I ever saw a Dalek is a memory I will have forever and it scared me alot.
The first time I saw inside the TARDIS I've never been more thrilled and it still gets me every season.
I love the Badwolf story arc and it's definitely one of my favourites I also love the introduction to Captain Jack one of the coolest characters ever on Tv.
There are some underrated episodes in this season like Father's Day and I don't think Unquiet Death gets enough love.
However im not a big fan of the Slitheen two parter just abit to silly for me which didn't suit this era and I much prefer Boom Town.
My favourite episode is definitely Dalek some of the best acting in any of Dr who in my opinion and the first time we saw the Dr be scared and abit of his bad side which made me like this character more.
I was really disappointed that Eccleston left although the introduction for new fans to regeneration was very interesting and very shocking to see for the first time.
The David Tennant era of Doctor Who I love this era Tennant still remains my favourite doctor of all time and will always be my Doctor even though I do prefer more stories in Matt's era.
However this does have some great stories and some excellent moments in Dr Who history I love Season 4 it's definitely my season of NuWho and there isnt a single bad episode in that season.
It also sees the return of some classic Dr Who characters Like the Sontarans and I love the new design It also brings back Davros who is a Dr who legend and his amazing in this season finale in Season 4.
This era brings back the Master for the first time played by John Simm who I think is brilliant in the role and plays a really sinister Master.
However this era does my least favourite companion in Martha wasn't really an interesting character in my opinion.
The era also has some really bad episodes like Love and Monsters and Fear her.
I love the way they bring back the Cybermen in this season really interesting origin story for them and a cool design.
Very upsetting saying goodbye to Rose at the end of season 2.
This season also has my favourite companion of NuWho which is Donna such a cool character and the companion that in my opinion has the best story arc in Doctor Who.
We also meet my favourite character for the first time River Song in a two part story which is amazing.
I also love specials from David and these are he's best episodes such a great way to end his era and the first time a TV show had me crying when he left David will always be my favourite Doctor and just a great era.
My moment in Tennants run his definitely the Timelord Victorious scene in Waters of Mars such well acted moment by him.
My second favourite era in NuWho the Matt Smith era I love this era and this Doctor is my second favourite Doctor in all Dr Who after David Tennant.
The Stories in this era are just amazing and definitely think Matt has the best overall story arcs in the New series of Doctor Who I love the story of River Song and The Silence in Season 6 which is my second favourite season in NuWho.
Matt's era also has some of my favourite stuff in it I think he the best Sonic Screwdriver and his first TARDIS interior is my all time favourite I love it.
However I do think season 7 is definitely the weakest season in this era some episodes in that season I'm not a fan off like the Crimson Horror and Hide I've never really liked.
But I do think Asylum of the Daleks and Power of Three are very underrated.
My favourite episodes in this era is definitely Flesh and Stone and Time of Angels I love this episode and in my opinion it's better than Blink as it feels more like a Dr Who story.
There are so many great moments in this era my favourite being the Rings of Akkatan speech and the moment with Vincent Van Gogh in the meauseum is just perfect and really emotional.
The 50th anniversary episode is in this era and I think it's amazing I love everything about this episode love that we get to see stuff from the Time War and John Hurt as the war doctor is awesome and the Zygons came back and look incredible and the scene with Tom Baker is perfect for any Dr Who fan.
I also think Matt had the best acted regeneration scene his speech always gets me and it just make for a perfect end to a great era.
I also really like the twist that he is the last one in the first cycle really interesting twist and makes the overall story more complete for me.
The Peter Capaldi era of Doctor Who i love this era and think it is slightly underrated now i will admit that Season 9 is definitely the weakest season in this era and in NuWho in general and the Hybrid Story wasn't really that interesting in my opinion. However there some really great stories i love the whole of season 10 definitely one of my favourite seasons and i love the introduction of Bill and the fact they brought back the Original Cybermen which made me go back and watch the Tenth Planet.
i also really enjoy season 8 and thought it was a great way to kick off the era with great stories like Into a Dalek which is very interesting i also really enjoy Dark Water and Death in Heaven really like the idea with the Cybermen in thar story.
i love the introduction of Missy such a great twist on the character of the Master and she gets better each season in my opinion.
Now there things in this era which do my head in i hate the Sonic Sunglasses such a stupid idea which didnt work in my opinion, However i do love his Sonice Screwdriver he gets after Hell Bent.
Hell Bent is my least favourite episode of Dr Who ever just huge disappointment and the Doctor is way out of character in that and undermines Heaven Sent which is the best episode in this era in my opinion.
i also really love the the dalek two parter in season 9 just because the scenes with Davros and The Doctor are always great to watch and i love them.
Capaldi in my opinion had the best Christmas Special in the Husbands of River Song which ties in with when we first met her in a 10th doctor story and we get to see there last days on Delirium which was a great way to end the River Song story.
Verdict 9/10 great series and my all time favourite show a must watch for Sci-Fi fans.

This book was incredible. Cant wait. This is a pretty good analysis, but it is missing an important fact. The road taken was actually not less travelled by, as he admits that the two paths were pretty much the same, but he convinces himself that, perhaps, one was better, without a real rationale. So, in my opinion, the last stanza indicates that, later in life, he will romanticize (the sigh) about the decision, making it out to be some sort of altruistic choice, when in reality, it was just a random decision with no rationale whatsoever. It is the admission that, in the future, he will likely be exaggerating (or fooling himself) about the thought he put into making the impactful decision, when in reality, it was just luck. This poem is not about the courage of taking an unpopular pathway. Its about the errancy of nostalgic memory or the need to feel that impactful decisions of our lives were intentional, when they really werent. Maybe it is grasping for a sense of control of his life. Read this again in that light. He is saying, “In the future, I will make more of this decision than what really occurred at the time.” I read the “I... I “ as the intentional, dramatic stuttering of someone telling a tall tale. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. The fact that the title of the poem is about the road NOT taken shows that the speaker is somewhat lamenting the decision, thinking about what might have been, and attempting to console himself or convince himself that it was the right choice. Ever wonder why the title is not “The Road Less Traveled By?”.
